About Us

Fresh Eyes was founded to help scientists at all levels achieve their goals by improving the quality and clarity of their manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations. Our services are provided by PhD-level scientists with a number of peer-reviewed publications, successfully funded federal and private grants, and certification by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences.

Services

Pricing: Fees are assessed on an hourly basis, ensuring that you pay only for the service you require—page/word-count fee structures mean that authors requiring less editing are subsidizing those requiring more extensive editing. Free estimates are available (average fee for 3-4000-word manuscript, ~ $200). Discounts are provided for trainees (e.g., dissertations, fellowship proposals). Projects requiring fewer than 5 business days for completion will be charged a higher hourly rate.

Editing/proofreading: We provide professional biomedical editing services for manuscripts, grant proposals, dissertations, theses, and slide presentations, including

  • grammar
  • typography
  • English language
  • style (flow, transitions, clarity)
  • logic.

Process:

One to two pages of your text are revised to produce a free estimate for the entire project (optional).  Once the project has been submitted, it will be edited using the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word, and a saved copy will be returned to you in this format.  Upon completion of editing services, an invoice will be sent to you (or your designated financial officer) for payment.

Samples

Typically, documents are edited in MS Word using the Track Changes feature, allowing you to easily follow the comments and suggested revisions.  Two examples from actual clients follow, one with the Track Changes visible, the other with a “Before/After” format.
